Spirit was adopted to a family in 2006, but returned earlier this year when she didn't get along with a newcomer female ... she was unfortunately brought back. She was in rough shape - very under weight, old & new scars, 'happy tail' (which wouldn't heal, so we had her tail 'clipped' by the vet). Spirit is once again her beautiful self and ready for a home of her own. Spirit would LOVE to be an only child - she has so much love & devotion to give!!
Who We Are
Mariah's Promise is "All that we can - We will" for the animals. We are a true no-kill sanctuary, a 501(c)3 run by volunteers. Mike and Toni, the founders, have been rescuing dogs since 1990 in Texas, Missouri and now Colorado. We have yet to find an "unadoptable" dog - we assess each dog that comes to us only to understand their personality and needs, not to determine whether they live or die. Until a dog finds a new home, they have a home with us. Our desire is to give animals the time needed to find the family for them, no matter how long it takes. We take in animals that have been left injured or neglected, older dogs and those with health issues - we bring them into our home where their needs are met. They are valued and loved. Happy Tails Books is looking for great stories about adopted dogs to be featured in Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories About Dogs. Sending in your story has many benefits: If selected, your dog will be immortalized in print, you’ll be helping to raise awareness about dog rescue, and each contribution moves our rescue toward a greater annual donation from Happy Tails Books’ annual sales.
It doesn’t matter if you believe yourself to be a good writer or not – the important thing is that your story is emotional, interesting, has a clear point, and gets submitted soon. Happy Tails Books will help you make it pretty (if necessary). Purebred and mixed-breed dogs welcome as are stories from fosters and forevers.

He's excited to meet people but calms down very nicely. Totally trustworthy indoors, loves to ride in the car, he's crate trained - Magoo is eager to please and he's a quick study. Check him out - maybe you or someone you know would be a good family or friend for this amazing boy!!

Jesse & Peter have been helping Mariah's Promise in many ways, but mostly promoting 'pit bulls' and dispelling the myths and fighting Breed Specific Legislation. We are very grateful to these guys' efforts for the dogs!!! Christine Garcia has been faithful to volunteer her time to display educational pamphlets & t-shirts to benefit Mariah's Promise.

Foster Homes and Adoptive Homes Desperately Needed ASAP
Mariah’s Promise Sanctuary has been given till June 23rd to place 19 of their dogs. If we do not, the state will confiscate 19 dogs and take them to kill shelters, which are primarily in metro Denver & surrounding where there is such extreme prejudice against ‘pit bulls’.
We are desperately seeking adopters, foster homes, no-kill rescues who can assist in taking some dogs, in or out of Colorado. A few may have to be boarded because there’s just NO WAY these dogs will be compromised or killed.
If anyone can assist, complete either an Adoption Application to adopt, or a Foster Application to foster. Please click here to see animals for adoption through Mariah’s Promise Sanctuary. Time is of the essence, the dogs are depending on us!
